Looking for lessons that make learning the piano engaging and exciting? My name is Dahlia, and I am a passionate pianist who loves sharing the art of playing the piano. I offer weekly private, in-home piano lessons in Orange County to children and adults of any age. Whether you’re just starting out or continuing your piano education, my lessons will give you that spark of motivation to keep playing!
About Me
I bring a wide range of experience to my teaching. I was classically trained for 18 years, and worked my way up to passing ABRSM grade 8. I was also in a rock/pop band for 5 years, performing at car shows and fairs. I also have a background in working with kids of all abilities and neurotypes as a behavior therapist, and I tailor my lessons to fit each student’s learning style.
I grew up hating practicing piano. It felt like a hobby I was forced to be in, and one I could not quit. My amazing piano teacher had me playing songs that were fast and lively with a lot of technique just so I’d stay curious. And it worked! Once I hit 18 (10 years after starting piano) my teacher taught me all 3 movements of Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.
The 3rd movement piqued my interest so much that I discovered a love and passion for piano. The technique in the piece amazed me; I wanted to be like the street pianists and the concert pianists who played the piece effortlessly and emotionally, using their whole body to express the piece. So I joyfully kept furthering my piano career by taking the final ABRSM piano test, along with music theory.
I completed the test in 2022 during my final year at UCSC. After passing it, I knew I wanted to be around piano the rest of my life. So, I started learning the famous Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 by Liszt as my first self-study piece in 2022. Teaching myself the piece was a difficult and careful process, but it made me think about teaching piano as a career. I had given lessons before, to both kids and adults throughout the years, but I wanted to get serious about it. Thus was born my piano studio!
